Remaining DLA claimants

Although PIP has now replaced DLA for new working-age claims, under-16s still have to claim DLA. In addition while in some parts of the country existing claimants who report a change in circumstances, turn 16, or reach the end of their award will be assessed for PIP, those in other parts will go through the DLA assessment again (see here for detail on the roll-out of ‘natural reassessment’). Disability News Service has revealed that the remaining DLA assessors will no longer have access to expert medical advice, increasing the likelihood of incorrect decisions being made. This will also affect over-65s who claim Attendance Allowance to cover their care needs.
