I’ve lent my support to the Go 20 campaign. In Scotland we want to encourage many more people to walk and cycle to school, to work and for those everyday local journeys. To enable us to do this we need to reduce traffic speed and make 20 mph speed limits the norm in residential and shopping areas, and specifically around schools. There are examples of where 20mph zones have already been put in place, for example South Central Edinburgh, and now is the time to extend these zones throughout the country. They will create safer, cleaner and more pleasant environments and therefore encourage more people to choose to walk and cycle.
